Here too we believe in cooperation. Every green contribution helps! Being more sustainable means making constant improvements.

Fair trade

We are fair traders: we pride ourselves on the fact that our growers around the world respect human rights and offer good working conditions. That is why we value long-term relationships with our customers and growers.

Sustainable crops

Our growers excel at environmental friendliness. They use the newest techniques; drones, alternative sources of energy such as geothermal heat or wood chips, hydroponics and cultivation on trays.

Climate

We strive to have the smallest possible ecological footprint. We sort almost 90% of our waste, grow fruit and vegetables on a demand-driven basis and plan our transportation smart and efficient. Despite all of our efforts, we sometimes look for alternative destinations, among others to the food bank (Voedselbank) and Instock or used in Buitenbeentjes soup.

Healthy products

Every day, we supply top quality, safe, delicious and healthy products, that encourage people to eat fresh fruit and vegetables. We also try to make life easier for people enabling them to make sustainable choices, taking into account the present and the future.

Our employees

It is obvious we cannot achieve this by ourselves. After all, we are the sum of all the people who work for us. Offering a pleasant working environment, good working conditions with attention to their personal development. We bring out the best in each other because we enjoy what we do!

Outreach

Naturally we are also involved in our local community. We have partnered with a number of local initiatives, we also offer work experience programmes for people with a disadvantage on the labour market and structural support to a number of charities.

Climate objectives

Greenyard's carbon reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2022. SBTi is an independent partnership between: UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), CDP and WWF. The SBTi has assessed Greenyard's carbon commitments, the methodology and target setting, against the Paris Climate Agreement - which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Greenyard has set a goal of reducing direct (scope 1 & 2) emissions by 70% by 2030 compared to 2020.

For indirect emissions (scope 3), Greenyard wants to encourage its largest suppliers to also commit to science-based climate targets. This approach should cover 70% of the purchase value of the goods and services by 2026, including the related inbound and outbound transport and distribution movements.

Due Diligence Policy

As an international company in fruits & vegetables, we are fully aware of our responsibilities within the food value chain regarding the products and services we deliver to our customers as well towards all other involved stakeholders in our value chain. We continually shape our response to assess and mitigate risks in our own operations and supply chains, working daily to meet all our legal, regulatory, ethical, environmental, social, and health and safety obligations.
